Sunsedar is an evergreen coniferous tree which is native to the Himalayan region of India and Nepal. It has a straight, slender trunk and a conical crown. The leaves are needle-like, and the tree produces small, round cones. The cones are a deep brown in colour and contain small, dark-brown seeds.

Sunsedar seeds are highly nutritious, containing proteins, carbohydrates, and essential fatty acids. They are a rich source of vitamins and minerals, including iron, calcium, magnesium, and zinc. The seeds are often used in traditional Indian cuisine to enhance flavour and texture. They are also used to make a nutritious beverage called ‘chai’.

The wood of the Sunsedar tree is also highly valued. It is used in the production of furniture, doors, and window panes. The wood is strong, durable, and resistant to insect infestation. It has a yellowish-brown colour which makes it popular for decorative purposes.

The oils extracted from the seeds of the Sunsedar tree are also highly valued. They have a pleasant aroma and are used in aromatherapy as well as in perfumes and cosmetics. The oils are also used in traditional medicine to treat a variety of ailments.

The bark of the Sunsedar tree is used in dyeing fabrics. It has a deep brown colour which is long lasting and does not fade. The bark is also used to make paper and charcoal. The wood is also used for fuel and is a popular ingredient in incense.
