Psidium littorale, commonly known as cattley guava, is an evergreen shrub native to the Caribbean, southern Mexico, Central America and northern South America. It is a highly aromatic plant that produces white, waxy flowers in clusters and small, sweet, yellow or pink fruits. The fruit, also known as "guavas", has a sweet and tart flavor and is used in a variety of dishes.

The cattley guava is an easy-to-grow plant, and it is tolerant of a wide range of conditions. It can be grown in full sun or partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soils. It is also drought-tolerant, so it can handle periods of dryness. With proper care, it can reach heights of 3-4m with a spread of up to 5m.

The fruit of the cattley guava is full of health benefits. It is an excellent source of vitamin A, vitamin C, dietary fiber and antioxidants. It also contains several minerals, including calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and zinc. In addition to being consumed fresh, the fruit can be used to make jams, jellies, marmalades and beverages.

The cattley guava is also an attractive ornamental plant, with glossy green leaves and fragrant white flowers. It is an excellent choice for a hedge, specimen plant, or container planting. It can be pruned to a desired shape or size and is relatively pest and disease-free.

The cattley guava is a popular choice for home gardens and is widely cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions. It has become a staple in many local cuisines, and the sweet, juicy fruit is a favorite among many. With its easy-care nature and delicious fruit, it’s easy to see why the cattley guava is such a popular choice.
