Chicory is a perennial plant with bright blue flowers. It is a member of the daisy family and is native to Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia. The leaves of chicory are edible and have a bitter taste. The root can be dried and ground into a powder that is used as a coffee substitute or to thicken soups and stews.

Hulled chicory seed, or "hulled grains", is a type of grain product made from the dried and husked seeds of the chicory plant. It is a high-fiber, low-calorie food that is often used as a substitute for cereal grains. Hulled chicory is a good source of vitamins and minerals, including iron, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. It is also high in antioxidants, which may help reduce inflammation and protect against certain diseases.

Chicory is also used as an herbal tea. The leaves of the plant are dried and infused in boiling water to make a mild and slightly bitter drink. This tea has a calming effect and is thought to help with digestion and insomnia. It is also believed to help reduce blood sugar levels and cholesterol.

Chicory is a versatile plant with many uses. Its leaves can be added to salads, soups, and stews, or used as a garnish. The root can also be cooked and eaten like a vegetable. Hulled chicory grains can be cooked and eaten as a cereal, added to baked goods, or used as a substitute for rice. Finally, the flowers can be used as a colorful garnish or to make a fragrant herbal tea.

Chicory is a versatile and nutritious plant with a plethora of uses. Its leaves, root, hulled grains, and flowers all have different uses, making it a great addition to any kitchen. Whether you’re looking for a flavorful salad topping, a coffee substitute, or an herbal tea, chicory has something to offer.
