Myrica Rubra is a species of evergreen tree, native to China and Japan. It has a dense, conical growth habit and can reach up to 10 metres in height. Its bark is grey in colour, while its leaves are glossy, dark green and lance-shaped. The tree produces small, edible red-brown fruits, which are about the size of a pea and have a sweet, fruity aroma.

Myrica Rubra is especially valued for its medicinal properties. It is said to have anti-inflammatory, diuretic, anti-tumour and anti-oxidant properties. The fruit is often used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat digestive issues, urinary tract infections and to boost the immune system. It is also used as a food preservative, as it contains an antioxidant called gallic acid which has been found to have anti-microbial properties.

The tree has also been used as an ornamental tree in gardens and parks for centuries, due to its attractive foliage and bright red fruits. It is also a popular bonsai species, due to its compact size and slow growth rate.

Myrica Rubra is a hardy, easy-to-care-for tree, and is tolerant of various soil types, as long as it is well-drained. It requires minimal pruning, and can be grown in full sun or partial shade. It is also relatively drought-tolerant, but will benefit from occasional watering during dry periods.

Myrica Rubra is an important species in the horticultural industry, as its fruits are highly sought-after. Its wood is also used to make furniture, musical instruments and tools. Additionally, the tree is a valuable source of food and nectar for various species of birds.
