Pterocarp Indicus, also known as Red Sanders, is an evergreen tree native to the tropical regions of India, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. The tree is highly valued for its hard, reddish-brown heartwood, which is used in making furniture, musical instruments, and decorative objects. The species is also known for its bright yellow flowers, which bloom in the spring and summer months.

The tree's seeds, known as "red sanders," are a popular ingredient in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. The seeds have anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antifungal properties, and are used to treat a variety of ailments, including arthritis, skin diseases, and digestive disorders.

The wood of the tree is highly sought after in the furniture industry due to its durability and resistance to rot and termites. It is also prized by artisans for its rich red color and beautiful grain patterns.

Red sanders are also an important source of income for the local people of India. They are harvested in the wild by local communities, who then sell them to traders in nearby cities. The traders then export the seeds to various countries around the world.

Red sanders are a unique species, and their benefits to both humans and the environment can’t be overstated. Their wood is strong and durable, their seeds are used in traditional medicine, and their harvesting provides a much needed source of income for the local people. For these reasons, it is important to protect and conserve this valuable species.
