Acacia Mearnsii, also known as black wattle, is an evergreen tree native to Australia and New Zealand. It is a member of the Fabaceae family and is commonly found in open woodlands, grasslands and heath. The tree can reach up to 10 meters in height and is often used as a windbreak or shade tree.

The tree produces round, woody pods which contain small, dark brown seeds commonly referred to as wattleseed. These seeds have a nutty, sweet flavour and are often used as a spice in cooking. Wattleseed can also be ground into a flour which is used as a gluten-free alternative to wheat flour and in baking.

The bark of the Acacia Mearnsii tree is dark brown and deeply furrowed. It has a high tannin content and is often used as a dye or tanning agent. The leaves are small and feathery and can be used as a tea or boiled to make a decoction.

The flowers of the Acacia Mearnsii tree are small and yellow and have a sweet, honey-like scent. They are often used to make a fragrant potpourri or added to herbal teas.

The wood of the Acacia Mearnsii tree is strong and durable and is often used in furniture making and construction. The wood is also used to make charcoal which is used for cooking and heating.
